As part of my research assignment, I am looking at the incidence of eating disorders in female bodybuilders.
You can read the abstract of the source article Body Image, Disordered Eating and Anabolic Steroid Use in Female Bodybuilders here.
I made an infographic!
Can’t read the abstract as it has to be purchased from this journal but would be interested to have a squizz
Hi Liz,
The abstract is the summary but the full text has to be purchased unless you have access through a University or a professional membership. Maybe you can get it through one of your research sources?
This is the full citation which might help.

I honestly wish I also had a chance to read the full study. I am an amateur female bodybuilder, but I haven’t competed as of yet. I imagine, I will be very strained and desperate, to be a certain body fat percentage, when I am reaching the point of being ‘stage ready’. Although, I plan to just do it for fun and exposure and not for the long term IFBB purposes of any type or sort. I will see if I can get access to it through my University. It sure to be a good read. 🙂
The other place you should check out is Scott Abel ~ http://scottabel.blogspot.com/ he has wonderful information on competitive body building and its effect on the female body, mind and spirit.
‘60% binge’. Wow..
Sad huh?
