When Conchita Wurst appeared on stage in a gold lamé gown, her eyes fringed in thick black eyelashes, her hair in long gentle waves, and her chin covered in a dark beard, she wasn’t a circus freak, she was a gorgeous, strange, mesmerising human being.
To all women, here in the flesh or in spirit, I offer my gratitude. You are the mothers of the world who bring in to being new life, new thought, new beauty.
Today I learned something new about relationships. I learned that as we age, sometimes our bodies don’t do what we would like them to any more. Illness, both mental and physical, along with the medications we have to take to stay healthy, can interfere with both our sex drive and our ability to perform.
I am thankful I have time to write, read, blog, think, watch videos, listen to podcasts and interact on social media. I am exceedingly, utterly and completely grateful to have the gift of time.
Being of a certain age, I have had the curious pleasure of watching technology transform over the past fifty years. When I went to school, we found all our information in an encyclopaedia or at the library. When I went to University, I typed my assignments on an electric typewriter with a corrector ribbon. When I first started work, I sent out rehearsal schedules and important announcements via fax.
If I didn’t know better I would think my boyfriend wasn’t straight. He has such a great eye, he should be a stylist.
As the last vestiges of summer sigh and turn indoors, my heart grows heavy and weary of remembering bad things.
