Why a relapse means you’re following your dreams

strip 1

When you have a disordered behaviour (like disordered eating or substance abuse) you use it to cope with stress.

strip 2

When you get rid of the disordered behaviour you feel free and set off in pursuit of your dreams.

strip 3

But you’re out of your comfort zone, you aren’t sure who you are any more, the stress is high and you don’t know if you’re doing the right thing. You can choose to either go back to the place you were before or use your disordered behaviour to cope with the discomfort.

strip 4

You relapse into your old disordered behaviour but you continue to follow your dreams.

strip 5

And then one day you discover that following your dreams makes your disordered behaviour slip away of its own accord (forever).
