When days are crappy it is relatively easy to pinpoint what is going haywire. Once the problem is identified – I am bored, anxious, frustrated, or tired – I can easily self correct by breathing, meditating, repeating affirmations or my yoga practice.
When I have a fantastic day, I am at a complete loss as to why things worked out so well. What did I do right? I need to uncover the secret to having an amazing day so I can repeat it in future.
I Want to Know So I Can Tell Other People
When people ask, “why have you changed, why are you so happy, what made the difference?” I want a logical 5 point response. I want to post the secret to lasting happiness on my blog and get thousands of hits a day. I want to be the happiness master.
But I am deluded. You can’t earn happiness by doing 3 affirmations, 2 x sun salutations, a round of deep breathing, and 6 x chinups. There is no secret formula.
What Did I Do to Deserve This?
The very fact that I am asking myself “what did I do to deserve this” indicates that I believe that I need to earn my happiness, and that an easy and effortless happy day is a result of me doing (or not doing) something important.
The Way I Was Made
The truth is, that feeling peaceful, calm and full of joy is my natural state, my authentic self, the way I was designed to be. It is how I was as a child before I began to believe that I needed to work hard to be worthwhile. It is living without goals and strategies, showing up without mask or façade, and not contemplating the future or the past.
I Have Natural Talent
I am just one of those lucky people who have a naturally joyful disposition. I’ve been like this since I was born and I temporarily forgot who I was. I am talented at being happy.
All I did was stop trying to be who I thought the world wanted me to be. I did nothing to deserve this, because love, light and peace doesn’t require a single thing. I am not happy because I’m fit, I’m not happy because I’m loved, I’m not happy because I have peace with food, I am happy because I am me.
In fact, I have to work hard to be any thing other than happy.
Today is a fantastic day because that’s how days are when I just let them unfold without interference. What will your day be like?
Did you know …
- On a cloudy day the clouds hide the sun, but the sun is always there. The clouds of thoughts, worries and desires cover and hide our happiness. We have to disperse them in order to experience it. Then the happiness that is inherent in the soul and is always there shines forth.
.
Happiness is not something far away and unattainable, and it does not depend on circumstances. Objects and events are not its causes. It is an inseparable part of our consciousness, only it is hidden and covered from sight by our endless thoughts, desires and worries. ~ Success Consciousness
