Self Portrait 365|44

This afternoon a thunderstorm rolled in so I pointed my camera through the window and stood outside in the rain. I love the drop of water on the end of my nose and how the rain on the glass looks as though I’m crying.

There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love.
— Washington Irving

When was the last time you stood in the rain?

  1. About 3 days ago in a thunderstorm!! I thought about you and your beautiful window and thought about you standing looking out with pic from the back or from the side looking out. Just me thinking, might not be any good!

  2. I was at an outdoor music festival a few summers back and it rained for most of the time we were there. The crowd was consisted of half hippies and half city people out to see the big name acts. The city people were basically miserable for most of the festival, huddling in their tents or under any sort of shelter they could find. We hippies though… It was summer like I said and luckily for us it was still warm even with the rain. On the last morning it was raining delicately, and about 75 or so of us were dancing despite the precipitation and it’s still one of my more beautiful festival memories. There’s something about really being in touch with the forces of nature like that.
