Denim and a Ponytail
It’s a denim and ponytail kind of day. Probably because I got up at 4.30am this morning, and yesterday morning as well, to catch a Brooke Shaden streamed workshop, broadcast on American time.
I’ve been thinking about the difference between writing and taking photos. There is no way I would get up at 4.30am to watch a show on writing. I just wouldn’t. But photography is different. I could do it, learn about it, look at it, all day. There’s no such thing as a creative block, or forcing myself to get in the mood. I look forward to taking a picture and seeing what I can do with it. I don’t even care if my hair is greasy and my eyes are hanging out of my head.
Perhaps that’s what they mean by passion. It’s the first time in a long time I’ve been excited about what the working day might bring.
I began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life. He taught me that if you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it at full speed ahead. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it and above all become passionate about it.
Lukewarm is no good. Hot is no good either. White hot and passionate is the only thing to be.
