The Writer’s Prayer to the Muse

the writers prayer • direct my steps and let not self doubt have dominion over me

Your words slipping from my pen are wonderful
Therefore my soul longs for them

The entrance of your words gives light
It brings understanding to the simple

I opened my mouth and panted
Longing for your inspiration

Look upon me and be merciful to me
As is your habit towards those who toil in your name

Direct my steps
And let not self-doubt have dominion over me

Redeem me from the oppression of my internal critic
That I may follow your instructions

Make your face shine upon your servant
And teach me your mysteries

Rivers of water run down from my eyes
When my heart hears you whispering the truth

Psalm 119:129-136 Paraphrased
