‘The weather is out of control,’ the man said on the news.
Indeed it is. We cannot control the weather any more than we can control what other people do. Not feeling in control makes some people uncomfortable. We want to be the ones in charge but Mother Nature is in charge. We are powerless to control the heat, the rain, the oceans or the wind. Can we practice acceptance rather than resistance?

We live in paradise, surrounded by the sea, mountains, deserts, bush and rivers.
Living in paradise means we experience the good and the bad. Blissful summers can turn into days of scorching heat. Lighting sparks bush fires. Rain swells our river systems and floods the plains. Tropical cyclones topple trees and buildings. It’s the nature of things.

We’ve always had crazy weather.
We’ve haven’t always had 24 hour news services and the Internet. The weather is now predicted, discussed and documented more than ever before in our history. It doesn’t mean it has become worse, it just means we’re talking about it more.

‘… in these dramatic and frightening conditions,’ the status update read.
The weather is the weather. It is neither good nor bad — it just is — hot/cold, dry/wet, calm/windy. Can we see the majesty of nature or do we moan about how uncomfortable it is? Do we choose fear or choose love?

Walking barefoot in puddles makes me feel like a kid.
Duckfish and I went to the supermarket to do our weekly shopping. The car park was a pool of water. People ran from their cars trying to avoid getting wet. Duckfish and I walked in the rain in our bare feet, enjoying the water on our faces and the puddles between our toes. Can you remember how you felt about wet days when you were a kid? To have no fear …
6.
I feel for those who have lost their homes and possessions.
I don’t mean to make light of other people’s suffering. If my house were to be blown off the hill and crash into the sea I would be upset, but I would be fine. In my world, there are things far worse than losing material possessions.
I’m glad I’m not the only one running around barefoot in the rain 🙂
It’s the only way to go!
I love the weather where I live. We are having a dryer Wet Season which means it’s has been hotter for longer, makes things a bit uncomfortable. I am missing the rain a bit, but we had the most amazing storm last night. I love lying in bed listening to a tropical down pour. We are 18 degrees from the equator, it’s gonna be hot!! Funny that. But we also have the most wonderful Dry Season, what Mother Nature takes in one hand, she gives back in the other.
I also don’t wish to make light of others suffering. But I agree, the weather just ‘is’.
