Inner Voice Ink : Step #4 ~ Compose

by KatieP on October 25, 2011

Inner | Voice | Ink is a 6+3 step writing practice that combines meditation + writing therapy + NLP + creative writing techniques. It connects you with your inner voice, re-writes your past, creates your future and improves your writing technique.

Now it is time to write. You have all your tools handy, you’ve dedicated your practice and you’ve decided on your topic.

The guidelines for writing are simple ~ don’t stop writing for the next fifteen minutes. Keep moving the pen in your hand or your fingers on the keyboard and don’t stop. If you make a mistake, don’t cross it out or backspace, just write the correct word and keep going. Don’t read back what you’ve written as you go.

If you get stuck just (a) repeat the last phrase that you wrote (b) repeat your beginning sentence again [your topic] (c) or write about being stuck. It also helps to take a deep breath and consciously move your energy back to your centre or to your heart.

There is no right or wrong way to do it. There are no bad writers. The way you express yourself is perfect.

If you want to try making your writing more rich and vivid, think about describing what you see, hear, smell, touch and feel.

Sometimes emotions will come up. You may find yourself crying. Even if this happens, don’t stop writing ~ write through the tears.

Don’t forget to start your timer! (if you get to the end of your fifteen minutes and you’re loving what’s pouring out of you, you can keep going — you don’t have to stop)
