This week I’ve been thinking about having a Facebook Page like all the cool kids do. But frankly, I don’t see the point.
Fan pages on Facebook allow you to see what I’ve been doing and saying, but there is no interaction back the other way. I don’t get your status updates, I don’t get your shared items, I can’t read your links. It’s a one way conversation until you comment on something I’ve posted and then I get a chance to respond.
Traffic, reach, influence, hits — they are all measures of quantity. I’m not big on quantity. I want quality.
I want to see the pictures of your dog/cat/baby, I want to know what articles you are reading, I want to know what pisses you off as well as what makes you weep with joy. I love that you are pregnant, or you just got married (in that order). Your cool quotes brighten my day and make me smile. You make me smile.
Working and studying from home means my real life social interaction is minuscule compared to the days when I was a big shot at the Wh1te Sa1ls Asylum. So my friends on Facebook are now my work colleagues, the people I talk to around the water cooler. You are important to me.
So if anything I write resonates with you, if you are healing, growing, learning, and exploring, and if your Facebook updates are more than what you ate and how much you exercised then I’d love to connect with you. Send me a friend request by clicking this link and I will be happy to welcome you into my circle of friends.
I’m not a rockstar — I don’t need fans. I am a wonderfully complex human being and I definitely can never have enough friends.

PS: Full disclosure : I do have a Facebook Page for my photography but I don’t use it as much as I use my personal profile.
PPS: I have recently acquired a Google+ account but I have no fucking idea how it works or what I am meant to do with it. Feel free to invite me/circle me/plus me or whatever the hell it is in Google World.

I am not on facebook anymore – reformed addict
I am happy to be your friend, however.
Friends it is then … I’m going to make a date for coffee with you next time I’m in Melbourne.
I also work and study from home and like to Facebook on my lunch break as well as blog surf. I’ve been tossing up making a page for my business, but I’m erm.. too scared it would get no likes (?).
If you are unpopular, why bother letting the world know about it?
