Operation Free Zone – Week 10

tickerweek10This week I gained a kilo. Although I am sure no-one cares, it was because I “carbed up” (= ate pizza on Friday night) for my weekend of kayaking and ate carbs over the course of the weekend because there wasn’t any other choice.

Besides, when you are wet, cold and exhausted, life’s too short to turn down a chocolate covered caramel biscuit and hot chocolate with real sugar.

Today I have DOMS in my back, arms and shoulders and I’m full of the water that comes with eating carbs. Either I will benefit from the “refeed” by dropping a big amount this week or I will just spend a few more weeks getting to goal. Either way, it makes no difference, I had to choose between staying on my “diet” or going on our weekend adventure so I chose living.

In other news, today I had my first consultation for Lasik eye surgery. I have been without my contacts for the past month so that I could have an eye test without the changes contacts make to the shape of your eye. I can’t tell you how much I hate wearing glasses but it will all be worth it when I don’t have to wear anything. I am booked in for 13 April when a surgeon will slice off a layer of my cornea and alter the front surface of my eye. Thereafter, I shall never need to wear contacts again. I can’t wait.
