Operation Free Zone – Week Three

ticker31janHello 74’s. All is going well and I’m still drinking alcohol and Diet Coke and eating Indian takeaway and chocolate!

I don’t have any weight release epiphanies to share today, I just continue to be so grateful that small changes are making such a big difference.

However, I have decided to make a huge change in the area of my career. As those who have been with me for a while will know, I have worked for the last 20 years in show business, most recently (for the last 8 years) at the Wh1te Sa1ls Asylum. My job has been good, but I feel like it is time for a change.

What to do has eluded me. While I would love to work as a practising coach and hypnotherapist, it will take many years to build my business. So in my normal way of just sitting with things, I have just waited for the Universe to show me my true calling for right now.

Yesterday, I was helping Duckfish’s eldest get his books and stationery sorted for his first day of high school today. As I sat writing names and subjects on books and filling up a brand new pencil-case, my heart leapt at the thought of going to school.

“You are so lucky” I said “I’d give anything to go back to school. The one thing that I enjoy the most is learning.”

Duckfish overheard me and said “Well, why don’t you go back to University?”

My heart flipped — studying full-time sounded like heaven and the timing is perfect. My department has recently undergone a re-structure and my job has been deleted, and even though there is a new job that has my name on it, technically I am eligible for a voluntary redundancy out of the public service.

With the finances covered for at least a year, I can take myself back to school. So today, I made an application for a spot in a Master of Arts in Non-Fiction Writing course. Co-incidentally, the cut off for applications was today.

I look forward to finding out if there is a space in the course with my name on it, and to drowning in the sea of ideas, discussion and assignments. I figure that I will get a start on that damned book that is stuck inside my head, while having some time to coach people on the side. Plus, when people ask, I can say “I’m doing my Masters” (sounds so posh).

I’m so excited … let’s get this party started!!
